In plain terms: Southside Plumbing does not hold Gas Safe registration itself, and we'll never tell you otherwise. When your job involves gas — servicing a boiler, fixing one, fitting a new one, or checking appliances for a landlord — it's done by our partner engineer, whose registration you can check on the Gas Safe Register before the visit.
You still deal with one team. You call us, we arrange it, and the plumbing side of the same job is handled by Adam.
Boilers: service, repair, replace
An annual service keeps a boiler safe and efficient, and most manufacturers require one to keep the warranty valid. Autumn is the best time, before the first cold snap.
If your boiler has stopped, lost pressure or keeps locking out, our partner engineer can diagnose it and tell you honestly whether a repair makes sense or whether a replacement will cost you less in the long run.

Radiators and heating pipework
Cold spots, noisy pipes, a radiator in the wrong place for your new layout — these are plumbing jobs, and we do them ourselves.
Planning a new bathroom? That's the perfect time to swap an old radiator for a heated towel rail, or to add underfloor heating. We'll plan the heating and the bathroom together so nothing has to be ripped out twice.

Landlords
If you let a property with gas appliances, the law requires a gas safety check every year and a record for your tenants. Our partner engineer carries out the check and issues the record; we can pick up any plumbing repairs the visit turns up at the same time.

Does Southside Plumbing do gas work itself?
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Gas and boiler work is carried out by our independent Gas Safe registered partner engineer (Reg. No. 666283). The registration is held personally by the engineer, and you can check it on the Gas Safe Register.
How often should a boiler be serviced?
Once a year is what boiler manufacturers recommend, and an annual service is usually a condition of the manufacturer's warranty. Autumn is a good time, before the heating works hardest.
I'm a landlord. Can you arrange my gas safety record?
Yes. Landlords must have gas appliances checked every year and give tenants a copy of the record. Our Gas Safe registered partner engineer carries out the check and issues the record.
Can you fix radiators and heating pipework?
Yes. Radiator swaps, moves, leaks, valves and balancing are plumbing jobs we do ourselves. Anything that touches the gas supply or the boiler itself goes to our partner engineer.
My boiler has stopped working in a cold snap. What should I check?
If you have a condensing boiler, check the plastic condensate pipe that runs outside. It can freeze and block, and the boiler will lock out. Pouring warm (not boiling) water over it and resetting the boiler often gets it going. If not, call us.
